Celebrating a Milestone in Vince's Young Life

posted on 2 October 2011

When Vince graduated in high school, his grandma was just so proud of him. Vince has always been very close to his grandma because he spends more time with her than with any other person at home. As a gift from his beloved grandma, she offered to prepare a special dinner in his honor. But Vince did not want to tire his grandma so he told her, Grandma, it's enough that you have always been there for me through the years. You don't have to give me anything anymore. I don't want you to get so tired cooking in the kitchen, when we could just call an outside caterer to take care of the menu for us. Let's just enjoy the night, okay? Although his grandma wanted to insist, she ended up saying, Okay, son. If that's what you want, then that's how it's going to be. On the day of his graduation, Vince gave his grandma a little card and it read: Grandma, thank you for everything. I love you very much. The simple note brought tears to his grandma's eyes.

Cultures that are not alike serve different kinds of foods in different ceremonies

There are some types of foods that are eaten according to the ceremony that is taking place at that given time. Meat is a perfect example of such nutrition that is served in abundance in specific occasions. There are families that do not have meat at all and when it comes to special occasions, they employ all their wild and unique recipes of vegetarian delicacies which are surprisingly delicious. Americans celebrate thanks giving once every year and this is the time when all the turkeys are in big trouble because having a turkey at a thanksgiving seals the occasion perfectly. There are those huge families that go all out to get a hog that they get to barbecue and serve at their family gatherings. There are even some cultures that serve hog roasts during Christmas holiday celebrations and other holidays too. People from Cuba love roasting hogs and as much as it might not sound like a delicacy, it is rumoured to be very mouth watering. So, the type of family and occasion will determine the type of food that is going to be eaten at gatherings.
